Ana Maria Meizys is a 1995 graduate of Rutgers University, where she received a B.A. in Political Science and Spanish. In 1998, she received her J.D. from Rutgers Law School.
From 1998 to 1999, Ana Maria served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Bryan D. Garruto of the Superior Court of New Jersey, where she gained significant experience in civil practice and procedure in all areas of law.
Following her judicial clerkship, Ana Maria spent time in private practice and shortly thereafter joined the Thomson Reuters/West Group, the premier source of legal research and legal publications in the United States. While at Thomson Reuters, Ana Maria negotiated multi-million dollar contracts, increased Westlaw revenue, usage, and market share, and taught legal research to numerous attorneys and their support staff. Her experience at Thomson Reuters included being a primary consultant for the Small Law Firm segment, as well as the Large Law Firm segment. In both capacities, she conducted numerous seminars on a variety of legal topics and educated lawyers on how to perform legal research. Ana Maria credits her experience at Thomson Reuters for her keen ability to perform advanced legal research and diagnose complex legal issues.
In private practice, Ana Maria has handled numerous diverse matters in state court, ranging from criminal law, family law, and personal injury to municipal law, business law, and property rights; as well as appellate matters. She is responsible for a successful trial court reversal in the Appellate Division case of Winters v. Eierman, 2008 WL 794654. She also regularly has served as local counsel in federal matters pending in the United States District Courts in the States of New York and New Jersey for firms around the country, including the Vezina Law Group, for which she provides local support in an array of business and health care litigation, as well as False Claims Act (qui tam) cases.
Ana Maria is admitted to practice before all New Jersey Courts, the New York State Bar, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, and all Federal Courts in New York. She is a member of the Bergen County Bar Association, the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association and the Hispanic Bar Association. She is also fluent in Spanish.
